Brief 

NRS had an issue with GIS pipes penetrating through the GIS Kingspan building. The openings were letting in considerable amounts of water, birds nesting etc. NRS chose to use dBA to resolve this issue. 

Assessment 

dBA needed to design a 'bolt on' system that would not only stop the ingress of water, nesting birds etc but also to stop the excessive levels of noise exiting the Kingspan building but also the risk of fire escaping the Kingspan building as well. 

Solution

 dBA decided that the best solution would be to manufacture aluminum plates filled with fireproof material and acoustic filling, all in situ around what was already there inside and out. 

dBA installed pre manufactured Aluminum plates on both sides. The GIS was on and required the plates to be fitted while they were live so extra care and attention from our experienced fitters who are used to working in the substation environment. Including putting in Kingspan flashing details.

dBA successfully installed a waterproof, attenuated, electrically safe installation with a very happy customer in the end.
